i recently moved into a large, sunny, newly-renovated 2 bedroom, 1 bath unit in old town takoma park. my proposed roommate had to back out so i'm looking for a roommate asap.the unit:
over 1,000 square feet, living room, eat-in kitchen, bathroom, 2 large bedrooms, and a laundry/storage room. brand new paint, carpet, windows/screens, dish washer, etc...ground level with lots of windows in every room and large closets throughout. your bedroom would be 12.5 feet x 12.5 feet. since i moved in a month ago, i've furnished all rooms except the bedroom that would be yours, but you're welcome to bring furniture too. window ac units and ceiling fans, although i haven't had to use the ac yet. with the screened windows open, the breeze is great (and i'm a wimp about dc summers!) washer/dryer hook-ups in the laundry/storage room if you wanted to get a washer/dryer. however, there is a laundry mat and dry cleaner 1 block away. verizon cable and wi-fi already hooked up.
the building:
ground level unit of a two unit home. although it looks like a single family home, it was built as 2 separate units so there is no access from one unit to the other. no smoking inside or in yard. big, well-kept backyard and small patio; located on a residential street one block from carroll ave. and ethan allen ave. street parking.
the neighborhood:
located in old town takoma park, the takoma metro station (red line) is a 10 minute walk and dc metro bus as well as montgomery county ride-on buses and the umd shuttle service the area. quick commute to umd, catholic, mc silver spring. one stop to fort totten metro ( yellow/ green line), 20 minutes on metro to the mall and capitol hill, 20 minutes on metro to downtown dc and dupont area. located in montgomery county, 10 minute walk to dc line, close to hyattsville/college park/pg line as well. takoma park is generally considered the most progressive area in maryland and montgomery county. very walkable/bike-friendly with old houses, street art, big trees and common green areas. 1 block to takoma park/silver spring co-op, yoga studio, bike shop, etc... with more restaurants and stores within a 10 minutes.
about me:
i'm a woman in my early 30s, umd grad, working at a non-profit in dc. i work 9-5 m-f so i keep a standard workweek schedule (up by 6:30 am, in bed by 11:30 pm.) when i'm home i like to relax, cook, read, watch tv, basic stuff. i might have friends/family over for dinner once or twice a month but nothing big or loud. i'm pretty neat and clean up after myself, take out the trash, bring in the mail without prompting. i'm vegetarian but don't care what you eat and am pretty liberal but have friends "across the aisle."
